Hello & welcome to The Ashy’s, I’m glad you’re here…!
I’m Cath, – a woman of a certain age! I’m married and Mr A and I live in South Wales, not far outside Cardiff, with our Welsh Sheepdog ‘Pup’… yes that’s her name! Some of you may have heard me talking about, or seen photos of “Dog’… again, yes that was her name. We sadly lost Dog back in July, just shortly before her 16th Birthday.
We spend our time between our home, our adventures with our touring caravan, our garden and our kitchen. We keep our caravan in Mid Wales, so we spend quite a lot of time up there and then we go touring at least twice a year. However, we hope the touring will increase now that Mr A has retired. Every year we spend time in Central France, touring with our caravan… it’s a country that over the years we’ve come to love.
Just a few little clips from The Heart of Wales….deep in The Towy Valley. It’s such a magical, pretty but remote area of Wales, full of myths, legends & folklore.
Hope you’ve all had a fabulous Bank Holiday Monday and have been enjoying this glorious weather. I have to admit it’s been a bit too hot for me today…shouldn’t say that I know, but I have struggled today. I’m sat outside now in the cool of the evening, enjoying listening to the birds calling and doves cooing….beautiful.! 🩷

How have you spent your Slow Sunday….enjoying the sunshine in the garden, or at the beach with family….let me know on the comments.! However you’ve spent your Sunday, I hope it’s been enjoyable & relaxing, just the thing for recharging the batteries ready for the coming new week.

Something happened recently that I’ve wanted to experience for as long as I can remember — and I’m still not quite over it.
I was visiting my step-daughter and her family at their new home, and she mentioned, almost casually, that they had a robin in the garden, but not just any robin — but one that will feed from your hand.
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was…I didn’t quite believe it until I was standing there, completely still, food in my palm… and it came…not once, but several times.
I honestly can’t describe what it feels like to have a robin land on your hand. Its feet are so impossibly light & dainty — I could barely feel them. This tiny, wild, fearless little thing, just there…hovering…landing. Completely unbothered by me.
At some point I noticed it was making trips to what looked like two different nests. Two. This busy, beautiful little bird — feeding, tending, going back and forth — and in between, it kept coming back to me.
It ticked something off a list I didn’t even know I’d been keeping. One of those quiet life must-dos that you carry around without realising, until the moment it actually happens and your whole chest fills up.
Now I’m back home looking at our garden robins very differently.
Could we get here one day? I think we’re going to try.
Have you ever had a moment in nature that stopped you completely still — one that you’ll carry with you for a long time?

Slow Sundays with The Ashy’s 🤍
Hope you’re all having a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend..!
Here a few images of the hot air balloons that have been up this weekend in Llandovery Wales. I love seeing these, they’re so amazingly beautiful when they’re soaring overhead.
We’ve spent a lovely relaxing weekend doing nothing at our caravan. We did however, go out for Sunday lunch with friends today, which was great to spend time together.
Wanted to apologise for not being on here very much lately. I’ve not been very well and spent 14hrs in the hopsital A&E unit wo weeks ago. I thought I’d done more damage to my already mangled neck. After then being referred to another unit and seeing another consultant 4 days after my A&E visit and scans & MRI, the conclusion is that I fortunately didn’t do any further damage, but my neck has been in spasm & that’s been causing all the pain in my neck and head. So I’m still on the extra pain and anti inflammatory medication & I’m hoping it will settle down soon. I am feeling a little better, but I’m far from feeling right. I’ve been having really bad pain in my neck, head, arms and it’s also affected my vision, so that’s why I’ve not been on socials hardly at all recently.
Hopefully, I will be back to normal sooner rather than later, so please don’t think I’m ignoring you all, I’m just not feeling the best.
Luv Cath x
It’s a beautiful day….
I’m enjoying a bit of quiet ‘me’ time in our caravan in Mid Wales.
The weather today is glorious, so I’ve been having a very quiet morning…a nice cuppa watching my Saturday morning ritual on TV, then a very short stroll just outside our caravan park in the lane…it’s so pretty. These are the sorts of Saturday mornings I love. All I’m missing today so far is being able to see Red Kites flying overhead…there’s normally quite a few about up here.
What are your favourite things to do on a Saturday morning..?
